So, that’s the end of Bubblews, finally!
I saw it coming exactly a year ago, in November 2014, and that was when I stopped spending time on the ‘B’ site (as it is notoriously called now). For those optimistic loyal followers of Bubblews who have been visiting the site with a thin line of hope that it would get back to its glorious days, a ‘Greetings’ was waiting!
Bubblews, the usually rude site, had a kind message to its users on Nov 16, 2015. It read –
After being up and running for almost 3 years now we regrettably need to inform you that we will be shutting Bubblews.com down. The climate for display advertising has drastically changed and made it impossible for us to sustain the business model and operations.
We want to thank everyone that was a part of this journey. We wish you all the very best.
OK, so it was apparently the ‘climate’ for ‘display’ advertising that caused the problem! It’s interesting to note that this has been stated hiding behind a mask by abruptly shutting down the site. The CEO who was bombarding the users with his flowery, dreamy, and philosophical posts went quiet forever since he decided to work on his new project ! He didn’t bother to write a message notifying the ‘B’ site users about closing down. The last time I checked, there were still hundreds of optimistic users who still believed that the site would do well some day!! Poor folks 🙁
This lethargic, no-respect, and ‘I-don’t-care’ attitude is what that pissed off hundreds of thousands of users including me. And they stuck to their trademark behaviour even while bidding goodbye!
It is not about business model, guys! It’s about your attitude towards fellow humans! You treated all users badly and you paid for it. If you had been little respectful, understanding, and ethical in the way you operated, you could’ve found a way out of the problem. Don’t blame anything/ anyone else. You don’t have to talk about your business model as it has been done a long time back in this article.
